Zoe is a mother of three from East Africa.
She served a 10-year sentence in a Hong Kong prison for drug trafficking.

“My mind rushed
to my children”
Zoe carried one kilogram of
cocaine in the body.
“I swallowed it. It was a very bad experience, very painful.”
She received a 14-year sentence which was later reduced to 10 years.

"They thought that I had abandoned them."
Zoe says she wasn’t told about the dangers of drug trafficking. She wanted to provide for her children, but didn't know her decision would separate her from them for a decade.
"Please God, I don't ever want to do this again. Find another way for me to live and survive."
Back at home, Zoe has been approached multiple times by people asking her to carry drugs to other countries once again. Drug syndicates know that ex-convicts are particularly vulnerable. She has rejected the offers. Zoe is focusing on the future and on rebuilding the relationship with her children.
